Victor Lutenco, IOM Chief of Mission in Tajikistan, held a meeting with the Minister of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, Gulnora Kenzha Hasanzoda.
On August 27, 2024, the Minister of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mrs Gulnora Kenja Hasanzoda, met with the new Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr Viсtor Lutenco.
During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas of cooperation, including migration governance, diversification of labor migration, preparation of labor migrants before departure, as well as employment and reintegration of returning migrants. Special attention was paid to the results of joint work on raising awareness population on safe migration, upgrading migration policy and preparing country's report on the implementation of UN recommendations under the Convention on Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Their Families Members. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the country's achievements in implementation of the Global Compact for Safe and Orderly Migration, as well as the implementation of the National Strategy on Regulation of the Migration Processes for the period until 2040 and the Action for the period 2023-2025, adopted by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on June 30, 2023, by Resolution No. 309.
Victor Lutenco expressed his readiness for further cooperation, particularly in the areas of diversification of labor migration, migration data management, skills development, including language courses for migrants and courses on the basics of labor migration management. The discussion also covered review of the existing migration legislation and improvement, involvement of diasporas in the country's development, and support to the national portal www.kor.tj, which would directly contribute to the implementation of the National Migration Strategy and the Action Plan for 2023-2025. In conclusion, the parties agreed to continue cooperation within the framework of the roadmap approved by the Ministry and IOM.
