Remember these names! These youth from Dosti district have already made big plans for both their future and their country, and they have no doubt they’ll fulfill them.

As part of the Global Money Week #GlobalMoneyWeek, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Bank of Tajikistan jointly held an essay writing and artwork competition got youth in Khatlon on the topic of "What do I do with my money?"

Out of all the many young people that participated, Mubarakshoeva Bibimoh, 15 years old, won the essay writing competition, and Latipova Zulaiho, 11 years old, was the winner of the drawing competition. We hope that the tablets presented to the winners will help in sharpen their skills and knowledge.

The competition was announced at IOM’s informational evening for families of migrants remaining behind in the Dosti district. The children, alongside their mothers, were taught the basics of budgeting, income management and habits for financial well-being by a financial specialist from the National Bank of Tajikistan. Local women also participated in a second competition based on how to organize and manage the family budget, with the winners receiving prizes!

These competitions and informational sessions were held within the framework of the project "Empowerment of “Families Left Behind’ for Improved Migration Outcomes in Khatlon, Tajikistan". This project addresses the vulnerability of families remaining behind whose livelihoods have been adversely impacted by migration.

This project was financed by the Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) and was implemented by four UN agencies in Tajikistan: the UN Migration Agency - the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
